Sol del Paraguay

Sol del Paraguay Lineas Aereas was an airline of Paraguay dedicated to commercial transportation of passengers, based at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport in the city of Asuncion.
== History ==
The project to create the airline began in 2010. Sol del Paraguay is also a Paraguayan road transportation company which runs national and international routes, and is one of the largest long-distance bus operators in Paraguay. Due to its rapid growth, the company decided to expand and thus the idea to launch Sol del Paraguay Lineas Aereas came about. It had 3 Fokker 100 with a capacity of 108 people, with another on order. The company's first test flight took place in May 2011, coinciding with the 200th anniversary of Paraguayan independence, and scheduled services began in late 2011. The airline operated two routes, with twice-daily domestic flights (on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays) between Asunción and Ciudad del Este; and twice-daily between Asunción and Buenos Aires.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Aerolínea de bandera paraguaya iniciará operaciones en noviembre )〕〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=Comienza a operar aerolínea de Paraguay )〕〔http://www.lanacion.com.py/articulo/42603-sol-del-paraguay-operara-en-dos-frecuencias-.html〕
The launch of Sol del Paraguay Lineas Aereas was considered very important in Paraguay. The country had spent 15 years without a national airline, since former flag-carrier Lineas Aereas Paraguayas became a part of Brazilian airline TAM in 1996. The initiation of flights in 2011 was somewhat symbolic, as it was the bicentennary of Paraguayan independence, and the company's three planes are all named after Paraguayan national symbols: Lago de Ypacaraí (after the lake of the same name which has been the inspiration for many Paraguayan folk songs), Itapúa Poty (flower of Itapúa - a southern department of Paraguay), and Héroes del Chaco (Heroes of the Chaco - the war in which Paraguay defeated Bolivia in the 1930s). It had been reported that Sol del Paraguay would operate domestic flights to Encarnación and Pedro Juan Caballero〔(【引用サイトリンク】url=http://www.abc.com.py/nota/habilitan-tras-15-anos-nueva-linea-aerea-con-la-bandera-paraguaya/ )〕 - two cities which, despite having airports, do not currently have any scheduled flights.
On 1 August 2012 the airline ceased all operations due to financial problems following local economic downturn.〔
